PDF: a glimpse into Edouard Glissant’s archipelic thought
OBJECT:
– 3 or more string telephones using paper cups (they can be of any color or pattern, found and recycled as long as they are sturdy) and cotton string of varying lengths. Please glue the archipelic thought pdf onto every cup.
– 3 or more different seating or standing options (islands) for gallery visitors, such as: an old wooden chair, a log of wood, a large rock, a block of concrete, a wall or column to lean on, a window or large plant to stand by, a pile of sand, a carpet or cushion on the floor, an inflatable boat. these can be placed at varying distances from each other, in one area or stretched across the gallery.
– place the telephones between these seating/standing options, connecting one to the next. I would use hooks for the phone to hang better on the wall, or find ways to place the cups in a suggestive manner that encourages the gallery visitors to use them and talk to each other.
